10 differences between the Percy Jackson book and the Percy Jackson movie

Difference 1: When Percy Jackson joined "Camp Half-Blood" at the "Half Blood-Hill" in the book, he was still not known as the son of Poseidon. However, in the movie, he was known as Poseidon's son before he entered the "Camp Half-Blood".

Difference 2: When Percy Jackson went to a chalet with his mother at the sea side before escaping to "Camp Half-Blood" in the book. However, he was directly to the camp half-blood when Grover brought him home and informed about his mother about what happened. There was no mention of him being in the chalet with his mother before he proceeded to "Camp Half-Blood".

Difference 3: In the book, Percy Jackson used his sword to kill the Minotaur, but in the movie, he plucked out the Minotaur's horn which was stuck in the tree's base, and used it to kill the Minotaur instead of using his sword.

Difference 4: Percy Jackson was having a private talk with Chiron at that time known to him as a normal teacher, when Miss Dodds called him to have a 'talk' with him in the book. However, in the movie, they were having a group discussion when Miss Dodds called him to have a 'talk' with him.

Difference 5: In the book, Percy Jackson vaporized Miss Dodds in the form of a Fury, however, in the movie, Miss Dodds in the Fury form, managed to escape.

Difference 6: Chiron passed the sword to Percy Jackson at the "Half-Blood Hill" in the book. However, in the movie, Chiron passed the sword to Percy Jackson after the attack by the Fury.

Difference 7: In the book, when Percy Jackson killed Medusa, he sent her head to the Olympians. However, in the movie, he brought along Medusa's head with him.

Difference 8: In the book, Percy Jackson and his friends were supposed to go on a quest to find the underworld, and not find the pearls to get to the underworld. The pearls were given to him by an underwater creature, all three at once. However, in the movie, Percy Jackson was supposed to find the pearls before knowing where the next location is until they find the last pearl and reveal the location of the underworld before they proceed to the underworld.

Difference 9: When Percy Jackson went to see Hades in the book, his wife was not present. However, in the movie, the wife was present.

Difference 10: In the book, Grover, Percy Jackson and Annabeth used the pearls to escape from the underworld while Sally Jackson(Percy Jackson's mother) stays in the underworld. However, in the movie, Sally Jackson(Percy Jackson's mother), Percy Jackson, and Annabeth used the pearls to escape from the underworld while Grover stays in the underworld instead.

Preference: I would prefer the movie version of the story. The story version has more interesting scenes like them using Medusa's head to slat the dragon, when they were on the quest to retrieve the pearls. This was the scene where they were at the museum and spotted the pearl on Athena's statue's crown. The movie let me had a visual feel of the story while the book version did not allow me to feel so. Other than that, the movie version of the story was more humorous than the book. Also in the same scene as the one stated above, how they showed Medusa's head power taking effect was cute. However, there are also good points of the book too, as in the storyline was a little better, as maybe the movie had to change it so as to allow the movie to fit into the time limit or the costs would be huge. Therefore, all in all, I would prefer the movie to the book.
